Dr Julian Burt is a lecturer within the School of Electronic Engineering
at Bangor University.
Dr. Burt obtained his B.Sc. in Electronic
Engineering from Bangor where he remained to study for his Ph.D.
in biotechnological application of dielectrophoresis.
Dr. Burt’s
research work has concentrated on the development of laboratory-on-a-chip
systems for the handling and analysis of biological cells. This
work has played a key part in establishing the microfabrication
facilities available to IBMM in Bangor.
In conjunction with Prof.
R. Pethig, the results of Dr. Burt’s research work have led
to the creation of two university spin-out companies. Current research
includes optical biochips and the development of microsystem manufacturing
processes.
